Cairngorm AWS Data Archive 2008
Data file for 2008 LINK
Notes
System flag should be 1,2 - anything other than this indicates some form of motor fault so T1,T2 and wind data may not be usable. The final reading is the hut temperature which will be correct.
2008 Data - Notes
-----------------
AWS performed well over the winter months.
A failure of a hardware module between the datalogger and modem resulted in data loss between May and October 2008.
Archive of Notes from AWS log on webpage
----------------------------------------
29/10/2008 I've remotely disabled motor for a couple of hours to thaw out the instruments - winter's here already - this will flag up as a fault, but it isn't.
17/10/2008 Visit to summit - mechanism OK. Replaced datalogger-GSM interface, hope that will solve communications problem. Plan to replace logger battery on next visit, and try to re-instate radio link to Glenmore Lodge. However not 100% sure comms link is fully up and running. Thermometer fan needs replaced so T2 reading high - T1 should be OK. Replacement camera on site, but think there remains a problem, so this will probably remain offline.
1/8/2008 Visit to summit - mechanism OK, but communications link problem unresolved - not a simple wiring fault. Will be investigating further to try to resolve comms link problem. Camera returned to HW for upgrade.
21/5/2008 Possible comms problem - modem is connecting with summit, but no connection to logger. Possibly just a dislodged cable? Will check on next visit.
27/4/2008 Low summit windspeed, so T1 is reading high and should be ignored. T2 seems OK.
9/4/2008 T1 reading high if windspeed below ~20mph. Suspect air circulation fan failure on T1. T2 should be OK.
18/2/08 Network issues resolved - data back online
16/2/08 Local network problems - there will be no data posted on the internet until these are resolved, sorry.
16-17/2/08 2000hrs-0200hrs Temperature fluctuations of ~3~5C per 30 mins! Probably due to inversion layer boundary at summit.
11-16/2/08 Fantastic weather - temperature inversion so +ve temperatures are real!
11/1/08 Looks like AWS fault has cleared itself, and is working OK at present! I've a number of replacement switches on order, which will be swapped on next visit. At present Camera is offline - I need to do some work on the summit computer, which requires a summit visit.
7/1/08 AWS fault developed on 6th Jan - looks like its stuck closed. Will be offline until next maintainance trip.
